I'm b-a-a-a-ck! That is to say, getting back to posting on my blog is one of my resolutions for 2017! To kick it off I want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year with the hope it will bring many wonderful blessings to all.
One of the best Stampin' Up! things about January is the release of the annual Occasions catalog full of brand spankin' new products! The trend with the past few Occasions and Holiday catalog supplements has been stamps with coordinating framelits/thinlits and there are TONS of new ones in this catalog! Use the link on the right column to open the PDF and see it all.
Here are a few samples of what you will see (and believe me, there is SO MUCH MORE!):

These pictures show just some of the new dies for cutting out gift/treat boxes, stamps and shapes for dads, moms, kids, friends and everyone you want to honor or celebrate in the next few months! Plus all kinds of new embellishments to add dimension or sparkle to your projects!
It's SALE-A-BRATION TIME!! This is Stampin' Up!'s most popular annual promotion that gives you the opportunity to earn FREE LIMITED EDITION PRODUCTS! You can see the PDF of the brochure by clicking the link at the top of the right column. These special products are not for sale - they are rewards for placing an order. It is really simple: for each $50 of product you order, you choose a free SAB item.
If you host during Sale-A-Bration and the total of all the orders is $250 or more, then you will get a bonus $25 of host dollars in addition to the standard Stampin' Rewards.
If you have been pondering joining Stampin' Up!, now is the perfect time because you can add two extra stamp sets of your choice to your kit - depending on the sets you select that is a potential value of up to $104! Please contact me if you'd like to know more about being a demonstrator on my team.
What? You want a little preview of what is in the Sale-A-Bration brochure before you open the PDF? Well, sure! Take a look:

Happy Turkey Day everyone! Here is a Thanksgiving card for you. As I explained in my last post, I am visiting my mom and while I brought with me the Stampin' Up! sets that coordinate with the Leaflets Framelits, I am using what is available to me in her stash, so the sentiment and acorns on this card are not SU! stamps, and the purple cardstock is a retired color.

Vintage Leaves stamp set, Leaflets Framelits, Woodgrain Embossing Folder. Crumb Cake cardstock. Stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and sponged with yellow, green, orange, purple and red inks.

Thank you everyone for your Extravaganza sale orders! The sale is not over, and there are still plenty of goodies in the Holiday catalog too - plus a new week of weekly deals - so you can still order online! Just be sure to enter my name as your demonstrator so you will get the best prices!

I am visiting my mother for the holiday and made some autumn/Thanksgiving cards over the past few days. I brought my Lighthearted Leaves (Holiday catalog) and Vintage Leaves (Annual catalog) stamp sets with me, as well as the Leaflets Framelits that make it oh-so-easy to cut out the leaves using the Big Shot!

My mom has accumulated a pretty good stash of stamping supplies, however quite a lot is retired Stampin' Up! products and other brands. So, I had to make do with what was here. She did not have any Stampin' Up! "Happy Thanksgiving" sentiment stamps, but she had another brand set of fall images and sentiments that had one. Included in that set was a quote stamp referring to autumn as a "mosaic" and I thought that went perfectly with the Lighthearted Leaves images I was using. That led me to creating this collection:

Woodgrain Embossing Folder used on the frame; leaves stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on Crumb Cake cardstock and colored with markers.

Square Lattice Embossing Folder (retired) used on the accent; leaves stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on Crumb Cake cardstock and colored with markers.

Woodgrain Embossing Folder used on the frame; leaves stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on Crumb Cake cardstock and colored with markers.

Square Lattice Embossing Folder (retired) used on the Old Olive panel; leaves stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on Crumb Cake cardstock and colored with markers.

Square Lattice Embossing Folder (retired) used on the Eggplant panels; leaves stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on Crumb Cake cardstock and colored with markers.

I have not specified all the cardstock and marker colors I used because many are retired. Feel free to ask if you want specifics.

TIP: When you color an image stamped on a colored cardstock (not white or vanilla), use a scrap to do color tests. I had to test several purple-toned colors to find one that showed up as purple on the Crumb Cake cardstock. I found that with this cardstock I had to use medium to light colors because darker tones ended up looking close to black.

I apologize to my followers that my blog has been on hold for a year - just too much life stuff plus coping with many changes at Stampin' Up!
I am making a sincere effort to re-commit to posting regularly and with Stampin' Up!'s annual Extravaganza sale about to start, now is the perfect time for my "Hello, I'm back!" post!
The sale starts at midnight tonight, Mountain time! To see what will be on sale (including items only offered for 24 hours on the 23rd and 30th) and to plan your order, see the PDF list HERE!

The Holiday Catalog is out, and now we know what products will retire when the catalog ends on January 4, and what will continue to be available in the next Occasions spring catalog.
The link to the Holiday Catalog PDF is in the column on the right (or contact me to request one).

ABC's "The View" had a great segment on quick and easy Halloween DIY decorations this morning - and a couple of the ideas used one of my favorite green craft supply items: toilet paper roll tubes! A long time ago I started saving mine in a grocery bag to pass on to teachers - they really know how to transform a TP tube! It is pretty amazing how quickly those bags of tubes fill up! I am always excited to learn a new way to use them.

To see the clip of the segment on (and see how to make all the decos), click HERE! (It is the October 31, 2014 airdate.)

I am not techie enough to capture still shots from any video, so I looked on Pinterest and came up with images for both the TP crafts:

TP tube + a glow stick
On "The View" they show how putting a paper cup inside the tube gives better stability for cutting out the eyeholes with a craft knife. They also painted theirs green, to better blend with the bushes. Varied colors of glow sticks make the effect more fun with multiple pairs of "eyes!"

This next one, the "floating candles" was inspired by Harry Potter movies. The photo I found on Pinterest originated from a really cool website post about an all-out Harry Potter themed party. Check it out HERE. I want to mention that The View's version was simpler - only black-painted TP rolls with LED tealights in one end. If you want to try this and step it up (as in the photo below), search Pinterest for these key words: FLOATING CANDLES LED TOILET PAPER. Including "toilet paper" in your key words will filter out most of the other types of floating candles; my search put just what I wanted at the top of the image results. You will find among them ways to make them look like drippy wax candles.

FLOATING CANDLESFor this Harry Potter party, candles were made from both TP tubes and paper towel tubes to vary the sizes. These were painted white and faux wax drips were added.
