Heidi Weaver, a fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator, created this awesome banner for fall and Thanksgiving and I cannot wait to make my own version! I will have to wait before I can get started, however, because I am visiting my Mom in California and won't be back home until October 23...I brought some Stampin' stuff with me but not my Build a Banner kit. YOU can get started any time however! From the Holiday Catalog you'll need the banner kit and Burlap Ribbon, from the Annual Catalog you need the Autumn Accents leaf shapes die and Labels Framelits (and the Big Shot). You can make rosettes with the die or "from scratch" with the scoring tool. Finishing touches are the bitty safety pins in the Vintage Trinkets and Naturals Buttons. Of course, you'll need some assorted fall color ink pads and sponges or daubers.
I'd love to see your banner creations using the Build A Banner kit so please email your photos to me - I might post some here!

  1. Thanks, Suzanne. I think making an original banner is much more fun than simply using the provided stencils. It all depends on what you're aiming for, however. If someone wanted a fall theme and didn't have the leaves die, they could easily sponge a colour all over the banner and then use the provided stripe, chevron or dot stencils in a complimentary colour over that. For fall colours, too, you can't beat the Sweater Weather designer paper for the rosettes.

  2. Thanks for those great additional ideas and tips Heidi! I totally agree that it is SO much more fun to create (then show off) an original banner...or card, or....
