AND NOW, A COUPLE OF GUY-FRIENDLY CARDS

First up is a Western-feel card that would be great for Father's Day, Birthday, or just to let someone know you care and are thinking of them.
This uses two stamp sets and special techniques:
The sentiment is from "From the Heart" and is embossed with White Embossing Powder on Natural White Cardstock, then Baked Brown Sugar ink is sponged over the whole panel to create a leathery look. The panel is layered onto Cajun Craze.
The horse is from "Horse Frontier" and it is embossed onto Baked Brown Sugar cardstock with Clear Embossing Powder. It actually looks great to leave it that way - the clear powder creates a color contrast with the cardstock. I stepped it up by first sponging the horse with Cajun Craze, then very very very carefully painting over parts of the horse and grass with bleach. I am warning you, try this on a scrap before you work this technique on your card! I barely touched the very tip of a brush barely dipped in bleach to the card and a moment later, whoosh! The ink bleached out. A very little bleach (I really cannot emphasize "very little" enough) does the job. I sponge-buffed a touch of Baked Brown sugar over some of my bleached areas on the horse.

2.5 pt. with bleach painting or 2 for embossed & sponged only.

This next card is quick and easy! It has a Father's Day sentiment, but you could change that to a different occasion. The words stamp is from "Teeny Tiny Wishes" and that set has something for every holiday and occasion! The lobster ("By the Tide") is stamped in Midnight Muse to match the background cardstock, which is texturized with the Chevron Embossing Folder and the Big Shot. The contrast color is Cherry Cobbler, however Raspberry Ripple looks great too. The little medallion is also from "By the Tide" and heat embossed with Pewter Embossing Powder, punched with the 1" Circle Punch.

FABRIC FLOWER WITH IN COLOR BOUTIQUE DETAILS-EVEN PRETTIER IN PERSON!

I wish I could have convinced my camera to capture the true color of the watered taffeta I used to make this flower - it is even more gorgeous in "real life" - as is the Coastal Cabana shade of the fabric in the background.
At my In Color event, you can choose either fabric, and the Boutique Detail for the center you like best, from whichever ones are left in my selection (not all are shown in the photo).
You can use your flower to make a pin, or a hair ornament.
The flower layers are cut with the Fun Flowers Die on the Big Shot, then the edges of each layer/petal is melted a bit with the Heat Tool. I warn you, this does take a little time and patience, but the results are worth it! Whether you wear it or give it as a gift, you will get oohs and ahhs and "Where did you get that? I want one!"

SIMPLY IN COLORFUL!

Here are two more cards you can choose to make at my April In Color event. These are shown in the simplest, quick and easy versions - the hardest part is cleaning your stamp in between colors, LOL! You can use a different sentiment than the ones in the samples (which are both from "Yippee Skippee"), and choose a coordinating In Color background instead of the black shown here.
The splatters are from the "Gorgeous Grunge" set.
I c.a.s.e.d the first from a card posted on Splitcoast Stampers by "Sistersandie" (I couldn't find her real name). She used a different sentiment in the lower corner, and added black splattered dots (another stamp in the set) over the colors.
I want to let you know that after finished stamping the splatters, I ended up turning my panel upside down just because I thought it looked better that way!

AN IN COLOR GIFT FOR A SPECIAL SOMEONE...OR FOR YOURSELF?

The 2012-14 In Colors are retiring at the end of May - and even before then everything in those colors (ink, paper, embellishments) will become "while supplies last" so if you love anything in these colors, order them now while you can!
Here is a super-easy and darling way to use the In Color Dahlia embellishments: put them on earring posts! If you are giving them as a gift, then you will need something to hold them, such as this stamped Petite Purse (die and Big Shot). Instead of using the cut-out handle, I used the coordinating In Color Stitched Ribbon.
At my April In Color event, if you want to make these earrings you can choose whatever color pairs have not been spoken for at the time you give me your project choices and register. My supply is limited, but I still have all five colors available.
This is a simple version of the Petite Purse, stamped with matching Gumball Green using the flourish from "Creative Elements." You can choose different stamps, colors, or use colored cardstock. For extra point value you can embellish it.

ON WITH THE IN COLOR PROJECT PARADE: MORE EASTER TREATS!

Here are two more treats for Easter! The first is an adorable bunny face to decorate the top of a 1"x8" cellophane treat bag. This one is filled with jelly beans. The featured In Color is Strawberry Slush, paired with Whisper White. The whisker dots on the cheeks are Baked Brown Sugar (fine tip end of the marker).

BUNNY TREAT TOPPER WITH STRAWBERRY SLUSH DSP
1.5 pt. inc. jelly beans or M&Ms (at It's So In Colorful stampcamp event, April 2014)
The next treat project is made with the Petite Purse Die. It can be done in many variations of color, cardstock or paper, and embellishment. At my event this month, you will have a number of choices (generally noted in the caption).
For this sample, I used Coastal Cabana Core'dinations cardstock, lightly sanded, trimmed it with Strawberry Slush Stretch Ruffled Trim, and added a Bermuda Bay Artisan Punch shape with a Strawberry Slush stamped butterfly ("Creative Elements" set), punched with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. That punch really coordinates with the butterflies in "Papillon Potpourri" so I trimmed this one just a bit after punching it. To finish it off, I added a Basic Rhinestone and Dazzling Details. And of course, there is a little bag of M&M chocolate eggs tied with 1/8" Silver Ribbon from the Occasions Catalog.
MINI BASKET (SHOWN IN COASTAL CABANA WITH STRAWBERRY SLUSH TRIM)
3 pt. inc. M&M eggs; simpler versions for fewer pts also available (at It's So In Colorful stampcamp event, April 2014)

READY FOR A LITTLE SOMETHING IN 3D?

Here are some Easter treat projects you can choose to make at the It's So In Colorful! stampcamp this month!
First up are two made with the Mini Milk Carton die and the Big Shot. The "Backyard Basics" bird is stamped on vellum cardstock, colored on the back side with markers, and placed behind the cut out done with the coordinating framelit. The little butterfly is from "Fabulous You" and the sentiment from "Teeny Tiny Wishes."
Do you see the light inside? the camera didn't capture it too well because it is a flickering LED tealight. This could also be filled with treats instead, like the carton on the right.
The carton on the right has a window cut with the egg framelit from "Backyard Basics" and a window sheet keeps the M&Ms from falling out. The egg cut out became the tag, which already had the DSP attached to one side.
Both have In Color Stitched Ribbon ties on the tops.

Bird box: 2.5 pts., Tealight 1 pt.
Egg box 2 pts. inc. candy
More color choices offered (It's So In Colorful stampcamp event, April 2014)
The next two treat holders are made using the new Scallop Top Tag Punch in the Occasions Catalog. I C.A.S.E.d these from ones made by several other demos. The one on the left is designed to hold a plastic egg. I embellished it with a stamped butterfly from "Papillon Potpourri," punched with the Bitty Butterfly Punch. On the left is a little basket. I used Afternoon Picnic DSP, and created the tag with MDS (punched with the Wide Oval Punch).

EAT CAKE IN COLOR!

Here is a fun, easy card that is perfect for a birthday or cake-worthy occasion. I used all the 2013-15 In Colors. This is the type of design that is fun to play around with - try different color combinations, different embossing folder textures, or even slant the layers to make one of those topsy-turvy cakes!
The sentiment on the flag is from "Yippee Skippee!" The flag pole is just a 1/8" strip of cardstock with a Melon Mambo Candy Dot on the top.
If you choose this as a project at the In Color event, you may also choose to customize the colors and patterns.

THE PARADE OF PROJECTS MARCHES ON WITH SOME 2012-14 IN COLOR CARDS!

Here are more projects using In Colors! In this post, a fun card that could be for anyone, any age, celebrating...a birthday, perhaps? Take note of the cute little star I punched out of Summer Starfruit. That punch is part of the Merry Minis Punch Pack that is still available to order along with other great holiday items that carried over from Holiday Catalogs. These are NOT shown in current catalogs, you have to look at them online and order while you still can!
I used several sizes of circle punches plus the Circle Framelits for the bigger circle shapes. The stamp (from the "Tag It" set) was colored with In Color 2012-14 markers before stamping.
If you want to include this card in your project choices at my In Color event, you also have the option to do a simpler version, inking the stamp with one color and not having the big circle cutout.

CELEBRATE! CARD IN ALL 2012-14 IN COLORS
2.5 pts. (It's So In Colorful stampcamp event, April 2014; or do simpler version for 1.5 pts)
This next card is one I C.A.S.E.d from demo Connie Collins. It features the "Oh Hello" set - just the chevron stamp, colored with four different markers, then stamped five times. The chevrons are then cut out, and I positioned them on a 1 7/8" square of Midnight Muse cardstock to create the star shape. This arrangement is then adhered to a Whisper White panel, textured with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder and the Big Shot and finally layered onto a square card. I sized mine to fit into a CD envelope with a clear circle window - the image fits inside the window perfectly for a fun presentation!

CHEVRON FAUX QUILT CARD IN ALL 2012-14 IN COLORS

DRESS UP IN COLOR!

The next group in our In Color event parade feature the Dress Up Framelits, which I LOVE LOVE LOVE! If you love fashion design, these are so much fun! If you love vintage, these are ready to go retro with you too!
If you choose any of these cards for your project line up at the upcoming event, you will have some options for different sentiments. So if you love the card but want different words, I'll provide some options. There are also a few other color choices for the two dress cards - so you can design your own dresses! Just be sure to let me know when you register that you want to customize.

THE PARADE OF PROJECTS HAS JUST BEGUN SO KEEP COMING BACK!

LET'S START THE IN-COLOR PARADE!

I think my favorite of all the In Colors is BAKED BROWN SUGAR! It is such a warm, soft, yummy brown that pairs with just about any color beautifully. Here are some variations of a card that features the Hostess set "Simply Sketched" - the point values for each card (see my previous post about the upcoming In Color event) are noted in the captions.

If you choose any of these cards for your project lineup at the stampcamp, you may also choose to mix and match the images and sentiments when you are here. So, choose based on the colors and layout.

I'M BACK - WITH A PARADE OF "IN COLORFUL" SAMPLES! READ ALL ABOUT IT!

My apologies for being absent here since I returned from California. One thing that's kept me from posting (or doing much of anything I'd like to be doing) has been a long bout of vertigo. Really hard to stamp or sit at a computer when everything seems to be either bouncing or tilting or spinning...
Thankfully, that is gradually improving, enough that I decided to go ahead and schedule my long anticipated "It's So In-Colorful!" event! You could call it a stampcamp extraordinaire because in addition to the projects, attendees will have the opportunity to paint their nails with the exclusive 2013-15 In Colors nailpolish that was available only to demos for a short time when the current catalog launched last summer! Since there are five colors, you can do on nail on each hand or foot in a different color, or pick your favorite and do them all! What a great way to get into the spirit of spring, and to spruce up for Easter!
I'll be posting a series of posts showing the projects that registrants can choose to do - the advantage to making sure you pre-register is you can choose your own project assortment!
Each project has a point value; registrants can select projects up to total value of 12.5 points. The first date is Saturday, April 12, 10 am to 6 pm. Set your own schedule and come (or come and go and come back again) to best suit your own style. If you are a leisurely stamper, you can take all day if you wish!
Contact me by phone or email if you are in my area (greater eastside of Seattle) and I'll send you a registration form and answer any questions. Tell your friends!
